'Cambrian' (Aero Club est. since 1997) - a name with many aviation
associations in Wales and NW England since the 1930s. We aim to
keep the name and the historic links with GA & private flying
alive. A Cambrian
Airways Vicount
700 Captain was the first to initiate flight training from Southport
Beach in the 1950's - those were days - 45 shillings
an hour!.
As an AOPA Corporate
Member our pilot training, coaching and mentoring
services are provided to private flyers, group, and aircraft owners.
The South Wales/Borders areas (and beyond) provide excellent locations
in which to learn and maintain flying and piloting skills. If your
passion is personal and recreational flying, then

our recent training safaris and 'fly outs' to interesting, challenging,
and sometimes exotic places.
Cambrian Aero (Training) is a fully
compliant CAA Registered (Pilot) Training Facility,
offering professional, safety oriented courses for serious pilots
and members. You will find the kind of post-experience CPL/PPL &
NPPL (microlight, aeroplane land/sea) support pilots often find
quite difficult to obtain elsewhere. Our Ground School (PPL/CPL/IR)
programmes in particular attract students from a wide variety of
backgrounds, both from the immediate locality and from further afield
- within the UK and Internationally. This is based on our ability
to offer specialist ground training (Land/Sea/Rotary) from Microlight,
PPL, to Ground
Instructor and Commercial Pilot Level.
Training, and mentoring in the relaxed
environment of small airfields, and also
busy international airports is provided by a highly experienced
Team, including an FI/Commercial Pilot and a CAA
Flight Examiner & Advanced Instructor. All have extensive and
varied GA experience throughout Europe, the US and Canada.
Our Training
Approach, from basic to more advanced, avoids
over formalised instruction with fixed agendas. Instead, we aim
to provide pilots with opportunities to achieve their own personal
objectives, often by flying with other experienced fellow aviators
through the AOPA
Mentor scheme, and Spending
more time explaining difficult topics - but above
all having fun while learning and progressing!.
