NEWS ITEMS and UPDATES:
"AOPA (UK) is moving to ensure that
EASA lives up to its promise, that the IMC rating can continue
in its present form in Britain - even if the rest of Europe
rejects it...
The IMC rating is probably the biggest
single contribution to GA safety in the UK. More that 25,000
ratings have been issued since inception. The CAA says only
one fatal accident has occurred involving an IMC holder over
a 30 year period". General Aviation, October
2009, p10.
The uncertainty over the UK IMC rating
created by EASA - provides - in our opinion, an even greater
incentive to go for the rating now. In any event no formal
change will take place before 2012. It seems likely there
may be a simplified IR for Private Pilots, with the possibility
of IMC training credits, and/or 'grand father' rights for
existing pilots.
Our IMC and refresher courses include
a continental checkout or GPS/RNAV as a no extra option **
unique**. One to one by professional
commercial pilot/instructors with full instrument ratings
- don't miss out on this level and quality of training.
